Makena's Trip to SB

Makena spent last Sunday night thru Wednesday with Mimi and Papa. They took her to the beach, park, and Coronado; they also fed her lots of yummy food and treats! She had a blast of course as she was the focus of their attention for three straight days. :) Then on Wednesday, my friend Katherine, her children, Brody, and I went down to spend the day and bring Makena back with us. It was a little chilly when we got their so we went to the park and then ate lunch. After lunch my mom stayed with Brody so he could nap and we all headed to the beach. The children had so much fun together. We ended up staying until 7:30 p.m. so all the kids crashed as soon as we hit the highway! A big thanks to Mimi and Papa for the visit and hosting us on Wednesday. Thanks to my good friend Katherine who came with me!

I'm 11 months old!

HI! I turned 11 months old today and I am loving every minute of it. I spent the last week of being 10 months old practicing standing up for longer and longer. I am getting better at it and can last for about 20 seconds. :) I think crusing is overrated and takes too long. I would much rather crawl speedy fast and get to where I am goig. I have five teeth with one almost popping out; my mommy got my first toothbrush and toothpaste for me today. She brushed my teeth and I was a star! Table food is the only thing that I want to eat. Good-bye baby food! Give me what mommy, daddy, and sissy are eating! I weigh 22 lbs 13 oz. (I had to go to the doctor b/c of a cold so that is how my mom knows.) I am very much a flirt with other people but only when my mommy is holding me. I love to babble and chase after "our" dog Mindy. Makena is my best friend and I adore everything she does. Whenever I see my daddy, my whole face lights up and i bounce up and down. I can't wait for him to walk in the house after work. One of my favorite playthings is the watertable. I love to splash and get wet! I am going to have a little ducky birthday party in two weeks. It will be fun for me and my family! I like being 11 months!

A Boy, A Girl, And A Dog

We have a dog! Actually, we are the proud "owners" of my parents dog, Mindy, for the months of March and April while they are out here visiting. Mindy is 13 years old which is about 90ish in dog years, rarly barks, sleeps a lot, and is great with Makena and Brody. She is a people dog. Translation: she hates to be left alone and would rather let be "petted" by Brody than stay in her "room" alone. Mindy is seriously my ideal dog and can do NO WRONG by Ryan. I am serious! However, while we are enjoying her we have realized that we are not ready for a dog. They are like another child but not as portable. So we are having fun and the kids adore her!

A mini vacation

We have spent the past four days with my parents in the condo they are renting on the beach. It was supposed to be for two days but we are having so much fun that we stayed longer! I will post pictures and write more later.

Brody's Baby Dedication March 2, 2008

On Sunday, we dedicated Brody at church. We were joined by my parents, our friends Melissa, Ginny, Katherine, Richard, Kevin, and Auntie Ang. We were called onto stage where our children's ministry leader read the stats on Brodes and the meaning of his name. (I can't remember what she said about it right now!) Then we took a charge about teaching him about God and taking him to church; our family members stood up and then the whole church stood and promised to encourage all of us. It was really neat! Although we did not get to share our life verse for Brody, we still chose one for him. (I will post it below and then to the side.) After the service, we all came back to our house for a BBQ. (It was SOOOOO windy outside that we had to cram into our house but everyone had a good time.) We are so lucky to have such a wonderful family and group of friends. Each of them insisted on bringing something to share so we had yummy potato salad, delicious fruit, scrumptous Caesar salad, and superb pies! Thanks everyone!! Thank you to Nana and Grandad for the special card and to Auntie Lori for the text message! We wish you all could have joined us too! Enjoy the smile box!!!

Philippians 1:9-11
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of rightousness that comes through Jesus Christ- to the glory and praise of God.

Winter Storm!

We are on storm watch! (This means that it is raining outside.) Today is a rainy day and perfect for cozy, comfy clothes. When the rain let up, Makena wanted to step outside to play in the puddles. We dressed her up in a spring jacket and sent her out. Brody wanted to go so bad and kept banging on the sliding door. It was very cute! Makena had so much fun splashing that after lunch, while the rain had let up, we went for a nature walk. Makena and I walked while Brodes rode in the stroller. We found many treasures in nature, such as pinecones, dark clouds, rocks, a baby snail, a long pointy stick, and a twisty branch. We were out for about 30 minutes which allowed us to get fresh air, splash in puddles, and learn about nature. Earlier this morning Makena and I worked on her fine motor skills with play-doh! It was quite relaxing to roll the doh in our hands and cut it with scissors. She has lots of different things to use with the play-doh which makes it even more fun. :) Have a great weekend everyone!

what we chose

We have choosen the brown overalls one! Thanks to everyone who commented or emailed me!!! :) He is being dedicated on March 2nd at our new church. Yea! We have also chosen his life verse so I will add that with the dedication pictures later this month. Thanks friends and family!

Winter Break

What a great week we had with my sister and her family! Makenabee finally got well and was able to do lots of things with her cousins! Here's the highlights of last week:
Monday: We hung out at home to try to get M better while they got to hang out with Auntie Ang.
Tuesday: BEACH!! We had lots of fun playing in the sand and water! Savannah was hilarious in the sand. She climbed up this huge sandbank and rolled down it. She was covered in sand. :) Brody ate the sand and was in heaven! That night we hired our sitters for the kids and all of the adults got to go out to dinner. We called it a mini sleepover for M, B, S, and N.
Wednesday: Disney!!! It was soooo cold! The weather was 10 degress colder than predicted so I froze! But it was fun overall.
Thursday: Valentine's Day! We all met at night over here for dinner. During the day the kids, Lori, and I hung out here.
Friday: Photo shoot! We try to get the kids picture together each time we are together. Well, this year we skipped it in July and August. I have to say that we got lots of cute pics of the kids. ( I will post it later in a smilebox.) That night we went swimming at the hotel. This was fun and I wish we would have done it more.
Saturday: Good-bye! We had to say good-bye for now. :( Dubbies was not glad to see say good-bye and keeps asking to see them again. It was a lot of fun and we are so glad we got to visit!

Oh what a day!

Joy is found in cousins!

Here are some pictures of the past few days!

Oh What a Night...

Ahhh sleep! It finally came! Dubbies slept from 9-3 and only woke up b/c she was in such a deep sleep that she had an accident. No wheezing sore throat, or coughing to keep her up. THe DR put on her the breathing treatments every four hours and gave me meds at night which so helped! I also used Vicks on her and in the humidifier which I am huge believer in! Soooo we are off to the beach and to play in the ocean. (well dip our toes in :) ) Tomorrow is the big D with L, T, N, and S. Yea!!!! NOW, we are praying that B does not get what she had. Have a great day!
