Hi my cousin is so cute

booty suit

"bootysuit" is what Makena calls her bathing suit. She was so excited at the beach today. I went with Linda, Ryan's mom, her friend, and Makena. It was a gorgeous day at the beach. Makena loved the waves and sand. I am now even more excited to go on our family vacation next month. . .actually it is in 18 days! I think that going today made me LOVE CA. . .will we ever leave????

Nightmare come true

Last night I woke up at 1:15 a.m. with my hear pounding. I had been dreaming about a party that Makena and I were going to today. The party was next to the pool at my clubhouse. Well in my dream there were all these people and I just kept fearing that Makena would fall into the pool and noone would see her. I seriously couldn't fall back asleep for about an hour. Anyway, so today we head to the party and it is fun, although it is 108 here. We see the clown and munch on some food. Then, Makena decides that she wants to go into the kiddie pool which comes up to her chest. No problem b/c I have her suit and swim diaper! (I did not bring/wear my suit and am in white capries and a cute pink tank top.) So I am being the "watchful" mommy by standing right by the pool's edge and walking around it as she moves. Well, in the beginning on little girl pushes Makena and she almost falls backward, but she didn't. Well, later on she goes back into the pool and I am still standing there. (Side note: all of the other parents are watching their kids from about 15 feet away...but not me! I should win an award! J/K) I start chatting with a random person about how I am sooooo hot and should have wore my suit or at least shorts. I tell the lady that now if I have to jump in, I am in white pants!!! Go figure! Well, I jinxed myself b/c about 2 minutes later, Makena is in the middle of the kiddie pool and I am on the edge when she slips and falls forward into the pool. She tries to stand up but can't and my stomach DROPS!!!!! I jump into the pool and snatch her up. My heart is pounding as I say, "Are you ok, Dubbies?" She is sort of crying, dripping wet, and I am SOAKING wet with white capries on!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! It is my nightmare and it has come true!!!!!!!! Anyway, I wrapped a towel around her and myself and realized that I couldn't stay. So we said good-bye to the host and headed home. (**the host did say that she would watch Makena while I went home to change but I was a bit too freaked out after that.) I love the water and so does Makena but drownings (sp?)can happend so quickly and I am petrified of that so I just had to go. As we are walking towards the car, Makena is saying to me "what happened?" and "Dubbies fall" It seriously freaked me out!!!! Plus I was embarassed to be in white see-thru pants. So that is my story and I hope it never happens again. Now, for all of you who read this, I already know to never wear white pants near a pool again!!!!!!

July. . .where have you gone?

I have had a busy couple of weeks and I haven't had time to update the blog! I started back to teaching on July 6th and we go new kids on the 10th. They are fun and adorable; I hope it is a good class! My partner Lisa and I both worked the first week of school to get to know the kids. (yes, it was without pay for both of us at times. . .) then I had to work Monday and Tuesday of this week and now I am off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had BUNKO at my house last night. It is a game that you play with dice. (ok, actually, it is just an excuse for 12 ladies to get together, eat, drink, and talk, talk, talk, nonstop for about 3 hours.) It went great and everyone had lots of fun. Ryan has been a mad dog finishing anything that still needed to be done on our house. He has painted so many doors that I think he may never pick up a paint brush again! We spent about five nights hanging our kitchen cabinet doors with new hinges. That was a PAIN!!! We would hang like four doors and be sooo frusturated b/c of how long it took. But at the end of each night the kitchen looked better and better and we still loved each other. So, anyway, I got may hair done this morning by my friend Ginny so we got to spend time chatting and Makena got to play with Ginny's girls. (She has 3 and 1 is a month older than Makena so they have grown up together!) Then when I came home I started cleaning b/c my mother-in-law is coming tomorrow night for a visit. Infact, I still need to organize my guest closet. . . ugh!!! Anyway, I will take a picture of my "new" kitchen so you can all see it! For those who saw it before. . .what a change!!!!!! I'll post it later!

So I bought the girls matching outfits and they wouldn't hold still for a cute picutre. I took action shots instead! Kena is into giving hugs! The one above in at the fireworks show. . .notice the matching shirts!!!

Slow down. . . it's snack time

Makena had a wonderful time visiting her cousins in Michigan. The kids played all day and night long. . .and the only time we could take a picture was when they were eating!!! So here are two shots. The first one is at my parent's house and the second is on the 4th of July at the fireworks! (Makena LOVED the fireworks!!)

our trip

Green. . . everything is sooooooooo green out here in the midwest. We are having a great time on our trip home (Indy and Michigan). Here are some pictures. . . from the Indy visit. Nana and Grandad (Grandpa to Makena) took us to the Indiana Children's Museum. That place is WOW! Makena had a blast and we will head back there this winter.

It could have been worse

I will use a rainbow of colors to write this entry to help you fully understand my couch. . .I did this to myself. Makena was coloring on the floor with crayons and on paper when I left her. 10 minutes later I came back to a gorgeous scribbled floor, couch, rocking chair and wall. . .ahhh yes, my daughter colored all over the furniture. Well I laughed about it and shared it with Ryan and he laughed. All was funny until now. . .I can't get it off! This is the couch that I love!!!! Now, it is a couch that I love with Makena's artwork on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But through it all, I say. . . "It could be worse. It could be marker or sharper. It could be paint. It could be a million things but instead it is just 'washable' crayon." I'll keep you undated. Oh, and for those of you who have read the pen entry, I gave her these crayons, it just didn't cross my mind that she would choose today to bust out and be super creative!

She loves the water. We set up the pool in our backyard and she had a blast!!

Sprinkler

This has been a very busy day for us! I had to go into work this morning for a Spring Performance that my 1st graders put on. Then Ryan meet me at work with Makena and we traded cars and Makena. Then we were off!! Makena and I ran errands for 2 hours. She was PERFECT!!!! So when we got home, we put on our bathing suits and brought out the sprinkler. She had so much fun. We played in the sprinkler and with the water table for about an hour. Then we came in for lunch. Well, she was so tired from all the fun that she crashed for her nap. Yea for me b/c yesterday . . .no nap. I washed the kitchen floor (just a side note here, I had to wash the floor b/c we had a man install undercabinet lighting and there were footprints with mud on the floor) and am now making a dinner for a friend who had a baby. I LOVE summer!!!!!!!

I just want you all to know that I kept dreaming about those little white bugs on my flowers all night long!!! UGH! :)

bugs galore

i am so frusturated with all of the roses and plants in my yard this year. they all seem to keep dying or are being attacked by white bugs/mold/mildew!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today i took my b-day g.c. and purchased some more plants and soil for my yard and i am hoping these take offfffffffffff! (thanks john and linda for the g.c) I just need my mom and dad out here b/c they are the outdoor experts. seriously, my mom can take a dumpy yard and turn it into this amazing flower haven. she has a total green thumb. my dad can fix anything and when owning a home there is always something to fix. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! M/D please, please move out here.
Oh a lighter note:
ryan spent about an hour today finishing the edging in the yard and it looks great. I will take a picture and post it. We also joined forces again with our neighbor so our edging matches and both yards look great.
So, here is something neat. . . last week we visited a new church in our city. they sent us two welcome packets: one was about the nursery. everyone was very welcoming and friendly at the church but it is very small. anyway, tonight we have our friends over for dinner and the doorbell rings. ryan gets it and it is a lady from that church who brought us over COOKIES!!!! she said thanks for visiting the church. OK, we were impressed b/c of the friendliness. So, we are going to check it out again tomorrow and hopefully hear the pastor speak b/c last week was a missionary. i'll keep you upated!

It's Potty Time

Tonight Makena went pee on the potty!!!! It was her idea and she got two potty cookies! (mini teddy grahams). For more details you have to call us. . . Could this be the beginning???? hmmmm. . .*** Just a quick note to say that in April she did go a small amout with my mom here but tonight was a full amount. . .
So are we totally parents or what?? We got soooo exicted about the potty. :)
