Going to see Santa...ending up in the ER

Almost two weeks ago, we set out to ride the Santa train and go see Santa. It was to be Makena's and Brody's first time seeing him. Our friends the Whitlows met us there with the tickets at 5:15 p.m. We all hopped aboard the train and rode it thru the lights and trees to the middle of the park. There we climbed out of the train and went to wait in line to see Santa. It was dark out there and the kids were running around playing. We were all having a good time chatting. Then it happened! We were 5 families away from our turn when a cry rang out! It was Makena and she had cut her chin. So I took a look at it and got some paper towels to press on it. Then I moved her into the light and took a good look at it....it was a gash that looked very similiar to the cut on Ryan's wrist from last month and it started bleeding...a lot. So here we are in the middle of a huge park, think forest area, with no car, little light, no bandages, and gash that is bleeding heavily. I made the decision that we needed to take her to the ER incase she needed stitches. (Remember, I am thinking that this looks just like Ryan's cut and it needed stitches plus we have no idea what she fell on/into b/c it is so dark.) So this worker takes us in his minivan back to our car and gets us tickets so we can come back. We finally got into out car and drove to the hospital. Once there it took about an hour to be seen and guess what? They just glued it together! The dr/rn/pa guy said that Ryan could have probably just glued it at home. Makena was a trooper and it healed well. So all in all, we did not see Santa and paid $100 dollars for a dab of glue! :0) Better safe than sorry!

I am so sorry that our Santa Train trip turned into the ER Express! We were so woried about Makena and bummed that our fun time was spoiled. We are just so glad she is ok!!! Well, it was a bummer but I know we will have many fun times again in the future! And her boo boo healed very well! That was some glue!
