do not ever do this
i got home tonight from an inservice just in time to read dubbies a bedtime story, snuggle for a few minutes, pray and lay her down. then i helped ryan pick up a few toys, watered the flowers, and went to check my phone messages. well i am LIVID!!!!!!!!!!! i called a parent today to discuss his son and instead of calling me back at school, the guy called my HOME number which in UNLISTED! I am quite annoyed b/c i want to know how he got it! he does work for a post office branch so does that mean that they can get unlisted numbers??? well, needless to say, i am not about to call him back from here. For all of you parents out there, do not call your kids teacher at home. Respect privacy!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! i just do not get some people.

Kauai Fun

We are back from Kauai, actually we have been back since Monday but I haven't had time to post anything. We had a lot of fun in Kauai; however, I would recommend Maui over Kauai b/c of the bad winter storm they had last year. It destroyed many of the beaches. The snorking was fantastic though and the water was wonderful. Makena loved "swimmin'" in the ocean. She was/is a water baby when it comes to the ocean. Ryan boogie boarded with Colin and absolutely loved it! It was a great, relaxing trip!

WHY????????????
I am sure that most of you are just as annoyed as I am about the retar***terrorists. I am leaving on Monday and do NOT have time to deal with all of the mess at the airport. We already have to leave our house at 5:30 a.m. for at 8:30 flight. Grrr.. .maybe we should just not go sleep and camp out at the airport.l I am very annoyed. Terrorist are so selfish and hateful. It makes me wonder about their childhood? Where their parents not around? Did they not have discipline as a kid? Who in their right mind who think to do that? AHHHH!!! Ok, yet again this is not as bad as someone I know who is flying out today!!! That would stink! On a lighter note. . .we are powerwashing all of the concrete around our house. It makes a difference! (It still doesn't fix the cracks though! :) ) Well, I am off to educate, involve, and love on my child so she does not grow up to be a freak like the t*****. Oh and if anyone wants to comment and say that you can't always blame the parents. . well I do not want to hear it b/c I see the early results of a lack of parenting and it is MY blog!

I SCREAMED. . .
Today started out so wonderful. I got to finally talk to my sister on the phone after many times of trying. (With little kids it is so hard to chat for more than 30 seconds; add a time zone to that and forget it!) My sister is telling me about something when I stepped outside to my backyard and patio to hang up some laundry. Suddenly, I froze with the phone to my ear and the laundry basket on my hip and screamed, "AHHHH!!! There's a dead mouse on my patio!!!! Lori, do you hear me?? There's a dead mouse!!!" Of course my sister, being the older and wiser one tells me that I have to clean it up and cannot leave it in the boiling hot sun all day. Well, I was NOT about to touch a mouse so I did what any normal person would do. I went inside and tried to forget about it. I even took Makena to the park for an hour. However, when we came home, I had to face reality. That mouse had to be out into the trash cans and it had to be done now. "Why not wait for Ryan to clean it up?", you ask. Well it is Wednesday and that means. . . trash day. If that dead mouse did not make it into the trash cans today, then it would pretty much spend the next two weeks baking in the hot sun. NASTY!!!!!! I took a shovel out of the garage and head to the back. Well, as you know I am a teacher so I did the teacherish thing and told Makena that she could come see a dead mouse. She was all into it and walked back with me. As we got closer, my heart started beating just a tad faster and then slowed down as I thought that the mouse was gone! (hey, maybe it was just napping, woke up, and left.) Well, no! It was still there. I was very grossed out b/c it was a mouse and dead. Anyway, I pointed the mouse out to Makena and allowed her to look at it. (FYI: She did not touch it or even come close enough to see its beady eyes.) Then I took the shovel and spent five minutes trying to get the thing on the shovel. It was quite funny and if I had been watching someone else, I may have even chuckled. I finally got the gray mouse on the shovel and walked to the big trash bins. I heaved it into the trash and was quite relieved when the lid shut. I walked toward Makena and she said, "bye mouse!" and waved. (very cute) All in all I am now an expert in dealing with a dead mouse. :) I really hope that NEVER happens again. UGH!
(***This is a side note: A girl I know, who reads this blog , moved into a house a couple of years ago with her husband and two little girls only to find it infested with rats!!!! I think that would be way worse than 1 dead mouse outside of my house. Happy 30th Birthday to the girl who survived that nightmare!)

There's no place like home
I have spent today at my house with Makena. Well, ok, actually we woke up and sent Ryan off to work and then Makena and I changed into workout clothes. She and I went for a walk around my community. It was so peaceful outside. The marine layer, or cloud cover, hadn't quite worn off so the mountains were slightly covered in clouds. It was very beautiful. When I came home, we got ready and ran to the store to exchange some things and came back home. This is when I felt that there is no place like home. I just sat in my house with Makena and felt so lucky to live here. I looked out my back slider and saw the green hillside and palms. Hummingbirds were flying around the red feeder and I just had the most peaceful feeling.. . and that is all! I put Makena to bed, did some touch-up painting, and read a book!! So, maybe I am already practicing for my relaxing trip to HI. :)

Where have all the bathing suits gone?
Today is August 2nd and there are lots of sunny days left in SO Cal so WHY CAN"T I FIND A BATHING SUIT????? Makena has two beautiful suits. One is from my sis Lori and it is featured in the pictures on the blog while the other is pink and dainty like a ballerina. Well, Makena usually wears the red tropical suit and it is too small now. So, last night at 8:00 p.m. I hopped into my cute Tribute and drove the 15 minutes to the mall in search of another bathing suit for Makena. Once there, I found the perfect parking spot and thought, "Wow! I am for sure going to find a suit for her." I climbed out of my car and strolled into the mall. Once there I walked to a big department store's children's section and asked a salesperson where the bathing suits were located. With a look of disdain, she informed me that they did not have anymore bathing suits. I thought that was odd, but just moved on to the next store with a skip in my step. I came to a famous children's store and much to my dismay, they too were out of suits. Well, my steps became quicker as I realized the mall was going to close soon and I was running out of shops. I powerwalked through the next three stores and found. . .1 suit!! But alas it was way too big!! AHHHHH!! I became quite annoyed when I realized that there were not any bathing suits. I left discouraged and drove home. So this is my question. . . why are the suits gone???? Grrr. . . on a side note: my sis once again found a suit in MI and is sending it asap to her so hopefully it will fit!
Oh, and my friend Sarah told me that I have to buy 4 suits in April or else they will all be sold out in SO CAL.
