Apple Orchard
Erwin's Apple Orchard
This fall I took the kids to Erwin's in Michigan with Mimi, Auntie Lori, Nicholas, and Savannh. There was a tractor that took us around to the different types of apples. The kids loved picking the apples andthrowing gently placing them in the bags. The older kids even climbed the mini apples trees to pick the one that were up higher. After picking apples, we ate delicious cinnamon cider donuts, drank fresh apple cidar, and ran among the hay bales. We all had so much fun!

The House That Built Me
My parents have offically sold the home where I was raised. We moved there in February of my third grade year so that is the house that I remember the most. I never realized just how emotionally attached I was to my childhood home, until the realization that I would never again drive up Eaton Court, walk into the laundry room, or run up the stairs to my bedroom. I was ok with that...or so I thought. One afternoon I was listening to Miranda Lambert's song The House That Built Me and tears came to my eyes. I knew immediatly that I HAD to go home one last time. After talking it over with Ryan, I took time off from work, scheduled an independent study with Makena's teacher, booked two free flights and one purchased ticket all in two days. One week later, the kids and I were on a plane to Michigan. Ryan couldn't make the trip so I went alone...on a plane with three kids...one was a baby...I prayed...hard...for a great flight. Guess what? It went PERFECT!!!!! My children were angels the whole time and it was a long day of flying for them. Well, my trip back home was everything I wanted it to be and more. The kids and I had so much fun! We hung out with the cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, family friends, college roommates, high school friends, picked apples, laughed, made smores, had a "bonfire", visited Custard Time twice, shopped, and made memories. I wasn't sad to say good-bye because I had my closure. The house I grew up in will always be special and filled with happy memories. I can only hope that my children will one day remember their childhood home with pleasure!
